At Home

I finally got released 3 weeks after my stay at the facility. I am so glad I was going home. My wife had to make sure the handicap was in the correct order. The complex fixed the railing so I could hold on to as I climbed the steps. There are 4 steps leading up to the building. The next 2 steps are the hardest because they are the ones that lead into the building. They doors are wide enough. After I get into the building, I have to go up 8 more steps. Finally, I make it to my apartment. It seemed like it took forever to get up those steps. By the time I get in my apartment I am tired right out.

My wife is taking care of me 120% better than I was getting elsewhere. Of course, it isn't easy, but we are dealing with it.

I thought by now I could walk, talk and take better care of myself. But everything is going so slow. I can eat on my own, stand, go to the bathroom sometimes I can dress myself. I can open and close my right hand. But my right eye is still stitched half closed. I still ware an eye patch. I get drops in my eye. But it still won't close properly. I really don't know what happened to my eye. I was told it accidently got scratched during my stay at Henery Ford. When my wife changes the patch, I get double vision in a bad way.

My wife is a strong person. She has her own disabilities, but she always puts me first. I feel guilty because I know how hard it is for her. She helps me with everything. She takes care of all my paperwork. Making sure my appointments are in order. She has to make sure my short-term disability is in order. We have had a lot of problems keeping things straight in this area. We had a video conference with my doctor in Detroit. They (Henry Ford) sent out the information to my disability insurance company and they closed my claim because they didn't send a back to work date. But yet they knew I hand one eye, couldn't walk or talk properly. My wife went through so much getting things straighten out. And then my pay got cut off. This was crazy. My wife is on a fixed income. My regular pay was enough to keep us current on all our bills. Then when I received sick pay, it was $40.00 not much but every bit helped. Then they took that away. What the hell REALY! So now we are on a spiral down. It took forever to build up our credit. Any way enough of that. I knew my wife was getting stressed more, but she kept on caring for me. I love her with all my heart.
